GRAND FORKS, ND (KVLY / NBC News Channel) A travel alert has been issued for the northern valley in eastern North Dakota.

Snow flakes are flying and the strong winds are blowing, creating blizzard conditions in Grand Forks, about 80 miles north of Fargo.

The high in Grand Rapids Wednesday reached only 14 degrees.

But with the wind-chill factor, it felt like 15 degrees below zero.

Interstate 29, just outside of Grand Forks, is inundated with snow and high winds.

The National Weather Service has issued a Blizzard Warning in the northern valley.

And the North Dakota Department of Transportation has issued a travel alert for Grand Forks, Minot, and Devils Lake.
