Blakely, Ga. (WTVY) - Early County's main community has many events planned for the first few weeks of 2017.

The 2017 Martin Luther King Jr. Day parade takes place on Monday, January 16th, 2017 at the Old Washington High School on Howell Avenue in Blakely. The line-up begins at 1pm and the parade at 2pm. There will also be a Dr. MLK Jr. and Coretta Scott King look-alike contest for kids with a cash prize.

The Dr. James H. Crowdis Run takes place on Saturday, January 21st at 9:15am. Starting at First United Methodist Church, there will be a 5K and 10K. Entry forms for the run can be found at the Bank of Early, The 4th Out Sports Bar & Grill, Grist Oil, Piggly Wiggly, Pioneer Community Hospital, and the Blakely-Early County Chamber of Commerce.

The Blakely-Early County Chamber of Commerce's Annual Meeting and Banquet will be taking place Friday, January 27th at 6pm.

Blakely's Father & Daughter Dance, themed after "Aladdin," is on Saturday, February 4th at the First United Methodist Church. Tickets are $20 per couple, $5 for each additional daughter. Carriage rides are also available to the 6pm event for $10 each.
