ESTO, Fl. (WTVY) - A small park in Holmes County received a long-awaited face lift to honor the community and veterans.
John W. Clark Park in Esto, Florida is fixing up the park before their Veterans Day Memorial this weekend. Trees have been cut, a new flag pole has been donated by the town, and a statue of a soldier stands at its center.
On Saturday, November 11th, the town is dedicating the new flag pole and monument with a color guard and ceremony to honor veterans.
Town Clerk Yvonee Hagans says the park has not gotten the attention it deserves over the past couple years.
"Our veterans don't seem to get the recognition they deserve, and we felt that donating a flag wasn't enough. We also had a citizen donate the statue to the town. We're excited!"
There will also be a peanut boil, the memorial starts at 4:00 PM at the park.
