PANAMA CITY, FL -- (WTVY) "I'm very excited about Bay City Point and that speaks volumes for our city, people are believing in the future of Panama City," said Billy Rader, Panama City Commissioner, Ward 3.
Bay City Point will be a shopping center on the corner of Highway 77 and 23rd street. Cracker Barrel, Aspen Dental, Steak and Shake, Home Goods, a new Chick-Fil-A, and many more businesses are expected to open there.
Some locals we spoke with are looking forward to some of those new restaurants.
"We were very excited to hear Cracker Barrel was coming because normally we would have to drive all the way to Dothan, Alabama to eat at Cracker Barrel," said James Cook, a local.
One woman from Chipley would like to see more variety in Panama City.
"I guess I'd like to see more upscale restaurants. We also like to shop, electronics," said Luwana Locke.
According to Panama City officials, they are unsure when phase one of Bay City Point will be completed.
"But every time I drive by they're working diligently so I anticipate it to be within the next 12 months. I really do," said Commissioner Rader.
