Baldwin County sheriff's deputy in stable condition after shooting, reports say

BALDWIN CO., Ala. (AL.com) — A Baldwin County sheriff's deputy is in serious condition after being shot Monday night.

According to WEAR, the deputy was responding to a domestic violence call on Monday evening, where a woman had been assaulted.

Deputies located the suspect in that case at a home north of Stockton in the Latham community. When officers approached the home, the suspect opened fire and shot one Baldwin County deputy.

The suspect remained in the home in a standoff with police until early Tuesday morning. SWAT teams were on the scene, and residents in the area were asked to shelter in place.
