2017 Weather Year in Review - June Tornado hits near Birmingham

FAIRFIELD, Ala. (WTVY) -- With the end of the year approaching, WTVY is looking back at notable weather events from throughout 2017.

A tornado hit outside of Birmingham Alabama on June 22nd.

It hit communities like Fairfield, near Hueytown on the western side of Birmingham.

Several businesses were directly hit by the storm--including an oil change store and a Kentucky Fried Chicken. 4 people were hurt by the twister, which was rated an EF-1 with winds of 110 mile per hour.
