Short Term Discussion

SHORT TERM (Today through Sunday)...
An isolated sprinkle or two will be possible regionwide through the
early afternoon, as the aforementioned moisture tongue and
accompanying disturbance lift northeast. However, the CHANCE for a
passing SHOWER remains so low that we have kept only a "silent 10"
POP in the forecast through the first part of the day today. The
main effect of all of this will be partly to mostly CLOUDY skies
moving across the region. Expect these clouds to clear to our east
by this evening as a stronger SHORTWAVE located over the Great Lakes region helps clear out any mid-level support, and a surface RIDGE begins to develop and move east over the local area, bringing with it drier conditions.

HIGH temperatures today will REACH the lower 70s regionwide.

Overnight, the surface ridge will continue to build in from the
west, pushing drier AIR into our western panhandle and Alabama
counties. On the eastern edge of this ridge, enough moisture will be
available to support the development of some patchy fog near DAWN.
Morning lows will be in the upper 40s (east) to lower 50s (west).

On Saturday, the aforementioned surface ridge will remain locked in
place over our the southeastern part of the country, with relatively
zonal FLOW aloft. This benign pattern will result in no chance of
RAIN, mostly clear skies, and highs climbing into the lower to
middle 70s.

The ridge will begin to breakdown and move east on Saturday NIGHT as a surface boundary moves into the eastern part of the country
associated with another shortwave trough moving into the Great Lakes region. Do not expect this to affect our region just yet, so another QUIET night is in store with no chance for rain, and lows falling into the middle 40s regionwide.

By Sunday, the surface boundary will approach our southeastern
Alabama and Florida panhandle counties. However, with the best
DYNAMICS forecast to remain well north of the area, expect a rather
diffuse boundary with almost no chance for rain as it traverses the
local area. Clouds will increase with the approach and passage of
this system and afternoon highs will be held in the lower 70s
regionwide.
