Pacific: Miriam No Longer Major Hurricane, But Still Strong

As of the latest advisory, Hurricane Miriam was still a strong Category 2 storm in the Pacific Ocean.

Miriam was a Major Hurricane yesterday, and although it has seen some weakening, it is still packing sustained winds 105 miles per hour as of 4am Central Time, with higher gusts possible in parts of the storm.

It is currently moving to the Northwest at six miles per hour, and likely to turn directly northward by tomorrow.

Some dangerous surf caused by swells from the storm could threaten the coastline of parts of Baja California over the next two to three days.

Although it is heading in the general direction of Baja California, it is expected to weaken as it draws close to land.

The expected remnants of the storm could later bring rain to parts of the Southwestern United States.
