Heavy rains associated with Tropical Storm Isaac could pose a flooding threat to parts of the Wiregrass.
The National Weather Service office in Tallahassee has issued a Flash Flood Watch through tomorrow morning for nearly all of the WTVY viewing area including: Coffee, Dale, Geneva, Henry and Houston Counties in Alabama; Walton, Washington, Holmes, Bay, Jackson, Calhoun, Gulf, Liberty, Franklin Counties in the Florida panhandle; and Early County in Georgia.
Forecasters with the Weather Service note that these rain bands pose a threat of flash flooding throughout the overnight hours. Estimated rainfall totals for most are at 1 to 3 inches. However, they say that “isolated totals of up to 6 inches are possible if they heavy rain bands set up over the same location for multiple hours.”
A Flash Flood Watch indicates that conditions are favorable for flash flooding. It is highly recommended to not step, ride, or drive into any water you can not clearly judge the depth of.
