Saturday night in Dothan, some locals took their finest outfits out of the closet for the annual diamonds and denim benefit for the American Cancer Society.

The event was held at Landmark Park and businesses and volunteers including some from Fort Rucker came out to help.

The night was filled with auctions, games and entertainment, all proceeds going to the American Cancer Society.

The event has been going on for eight years now.

"Originally it started as the Cattle Barren’s Ball, then several years ago because there is a dance like this all across the United States, someone came up with this idea- blue jeans and diamonds. You just want to come out and have a good time" says Nadine Smith, Public Relations Chairperson.

More than 200 guests attended the event.
