Major Snow Storm #4 for 2009/10

Posted: 02/26/2010 - A major nor’easter with hurricane force winds, mountainous snowfalls, flooding rains has slammed the northeast leaving at least 700,000 homes and businesses without electricity. Power failures were so bad in New Hampshire that even the state Emergency Operations Center was operating on a generator. Meanwhile in this upside down storm, it was rain and hurricane force winds in eastern New England with a wind gust of 91 mph at Isle of Shoals near Portsmouth, New Hamsphire well above hurricane force of 74 mph and 68 mph in Portsmouth. Gusts hit 60 mph or more from New York’s Long Island to Massachusetts.

Effects of Snowicane to Linger into the Weekend

Posted: 02/26/2010 - The "snowicane" will continue to affect the Northeast with gusty winds, bands of heavy snow, and lingering flooding into the weekend. While the worst of the storm will be over by this evening, people will be dealing with the aftermath for days.
