US Short Range Weather to Dec 11

Blizzard Conditions Are Expected Across Portions Of The Upper
Midwest...

Showers And Thunderstorms Will Be Possible Along A Cold Front
Pushing Towards The Appalachians On Monday...

A Strong Cold Front Plunging Southeastward Out Of The Central
Plains And Rockies Will Be The Main Weather Maker During The Short Range Period.

Conditions Will Quickly Deteriorate Across The Dakotas And Minnesota Saturday Night As The Anchoring Surface Low Intensifies While Tracking Through The Region.

Blizzard Warnings Have Been Posted For Portions Of North And South Dakota...Where Heavy Snows Combined With Strong Winds Could Create Dangerous White Out Conditions.

The Significant Snows With This System Should Gradually Diminish On Sunday As The Surface Low Weakens While Tracking Towards Upper Great Lakes...But Widespread Snow Shower Activity Will Continue Through The Forecast Period.

Also...Conditions Will Become Quite Bitter Behind The Front... Where Daytime Temperatures Across Much Of The Upper Midwest Will Not Even Reach The Freezing Mark For The Next Few Days.

Meanwhile...The Trailing Cold Front Will Begin To Push Eastward
Through The Ohio...Tennessee...And Lower Mississippi Valley Sunday
Evening.

Increasing Amounts Of Gulf Moisture Streaming Northward Ahead Of The Front Should Allow For Some Organized Areas Of Showers And Thunderstorms To Develop Along The Front As It Approaches The Appalachians. A Surface Wave Developing Along The Boundary Should Track Towards The Lower Great Lakes Sunday Night Into Monday...And Precipitation Should Expand Northward Into The
Northern Mid-Atlantic And Northeast States. Precipitation Should
Stay Mostly Rain...But A Few Areas Of Snow Or Freezing Rain Can Not Be Ruled Out Across Portions Of Interior New England.

Additionally...Out Along The Western Edge Of The Front... Widespread Snow Showers Are Expected Over The Great Basin And Central/ Southern Rockies As The Boundary Drops Southward Through The Region. Some Modest Accumulations Will Be Possible Over The Upslope Side Of The Colorado Rockies.
