SHORT TERM [Friday Through Saturday Night]...
Through the short term, the east coast trough will continue to
expand south AS an upper low carves through the Great Lakes
region, and eventually into Canada. High pressure at the surface
will be disturbed on Friday as a dry cold FRONT passes through the
local area. This will do little for us besides bring some passing
CLOUD cover. High pressure will build back in on Saturday and
CENTER itself over the local area Saturday night, setting up a
favorable radiational cooling night on what may be our coldest
night of the season thus far.
As far as temperatures are concerned, Friday will be rather warm
with highs reaching the middle 70s, with a FEW upper 70 degree
readings possible. Passing clouds and elevated winds will keep
overnight lows moderated on Friday night, in the lower to middle
40s area wide. Below average highs can be expected on Saturday
behind the front with temperatures ranging from near 60 degrees in
Alabama to middle 60s near the southeast Big Bend of Florida. The
cool afternoon highs will plummet to near the 30 degree mark for
most inland locations. The typically cooler spots are expected to
dip into the 20s, with the coldest locations most LIKELY being
throughout the Suwannee River Valley where even some stray lower
20s could be possible. Thus, our first WIDESPREAD freeze is
expected to occur on Saturday night.
