The tornado that leveled much of El Reno, Oklahoma last week is a record breaker.

The tornado that leveled much of El Reno, Oklahoma last week is a record breaker.

The National Weather Service says at 2.6 miles wide, the El Reno tornado is the widest United States twister ever.

Friday's storm tore open brick houses, ripped off roofs, downed trees, uprooted power lines and flattened entire neighborhoods.

At least 18 people died as a result of the storm.
