Near Term Update

NEAR TERM [Through Tonight]...
Looking at the long wave pattern, we see a negatively tilted TROUGH
axis over the Northeast and along the MID Atlantic coast with a
RIDGE axis extending from TX northwestward all the way to the
Alaskan Panhandle. At the surface, HIGH PRESSURE is centered over
the Lower Mississippi Valley and extends southward to the Gulf of
Mexico. The cold FRONT that moved through the area last NIGHT is now
pushing south across the central FL Peninsula. Extensive
post-frontal LOW clouds have been gradually eroding from the north.
These have wreaked havoc on the MAX TEMPS forecast. In the latest
update, we capped max temps in the upper 50s over South Central GA
where the clouds will persist for the entire day. Other areas to the
west should see lower 60s. It looks like the lower clouds will
persist or at least return to our eastern zones overnight while
areas to the west will remain clear. Overnight lows will generally
be in the lower 40s with a FEW upper 30s west of Dothan and Marianna.
