Forecasters Watching Tropical Wave Off African Coast

Forecasters with the National Hurricane Center are closely watching a developing area of low pressure off the Northwest African Coast in the Atlantic Ocean.

As of 2am Eastern Time, the National Hurricane Center has the storm at Code Orange, or 40% chance of developing into a tropical depression or tropical storm within 48 hours.

The storm, as of Tuesday morning, was a couple hundred miles to the south of the Cape Verde Islands.

Further development of this system is possible as it moves westward. Various computer models have it moving to the west and northwest over the next few days.
