A tornado in China's south-western Hunan province killed 3 and injured 52 others in the early morning hours of Wednesday (March 20), state media reported.
The tornado struck at around 0300 local time (1500 ET) and affected over 110,000 people, the official news agency Xinhua and state broadcaster CCTV said respectively.
Footage broadcast by CCTV showed members of an over 2,000 strong relief team digging through the debris and carrying a female survivor to safety.
Villagers were evacuated from the disaster zone and provided with temporary food and blankets, CCTV said.
