A brief period of lighter winds and lower seas will last into Monday afternoon as high pressure builds over the northern Gulf.

They will then increase once again due to an approaching cold front.

Expect exercise caution levels late Monday afternoon increasing to advisory levels Monday night.

They will briefly decrease into Tuesday afternoon before increasing again to advisory levels in the wake of a cold front.

Headline criteria are forecast through late Thursday night before winds and seas again decrease to below headline levels.

Variable wind around 5 knots then becoming southeast and increasing to 10 to 15 knots late. Seas 1 to 2 feet. Protected waters smooth increasing to a light to moderate chop.

Monday
Southeast wind 10 to 15 knots increasing to 15 to 20 knots in the late morning. Seas 1 to 2 feet building to 3 to 4 feet in the afternoon. Protected waters a light to moderate chop increasing to choppy.

Monday Night
Southeast wind around 20 knots becoming south 20 to 25 knots in the late evening. Seas 4 to 5 feet. Protected waters choppy increasing to rough. A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms.

Tuesday
South wind 20 to 25 knots becoming southwest 15 to 20 knots early in the afternoon...then becoming northwest late in the afternoon. Seas 6 to 8 feet subsiding to 5 to 6 feet in the afternoon. Protected waters rough becoming choppy. A chance of showers and mainly morning thunderstorms.
