Beach & Gulf Forecast thru Oct 10

Tropical Storm Karen remains disorganized and fairly weak over the north central Gulf of Mexico on Saturday afternoon.

The latest forecast from the National Hurricane Center calls for the storm to weaken to a depression in the next 24 hours and then become Post-tropical before it approaches the northeast Gulf of Mexico as it becomes absorbed in a cold front.

Therefore the tropical storm watch has been canceled.

There should still be enough of a pressure gradient to generate an increase in winds across the coastal waters...but the winds should not be much stronger than 20 knots.

Therefore cautionary conditions are likely and borderline advisory conditions are possible.

Despite the weaker appearance of Karen...mariners should continue to monitor the latest forecasts for any additional changes in track or intensity.

Forecast as of 4:48 PM EDT on October 5, 2013
