Alabama Red Cross Responding to Tornadoes and Helping Neighboring State of Mississippi

BIRMINGHAM, Ala., February 11, 2013 — The American Red Cross Alabama Region is hard at work helping those affected by yesterday’s tornadoes and severe weather.

Red Cross volunteers are assessing the damage in the affected areas of Clarke and Washington Counties and will provide assistance as needed and requested from other agencies responding.

The Red Cross office building in Hattiesburg was heavily damaged by a tornado yesterday and is inoperable. Alabama Red Cross staff member, Oscar Barnes, is set to deploy to Mississippi to help organize the response efforts there.

Remember, your donations are what make our relief efforts possible. To make a donation or get more information about the Alabama Red Cross, visit www.alredcross.org.
