Short Term Discussion

SHORT TERM...
(TONIGHT THROUGH SATURDAY) THE FORECAST PERIOD WILL BE DOMINATED
BY DEEP LAYER RIDGING. THE LATEST NWP GUIDANCE INDICATES THAT
THURSDAY MAY NOT BE QUITE AS DRY AS TODAY...AS DEEP LAYER MOISTURE
IS FORECAST TO INCREASE A BIT (ESPECIALLY IN GA). STILL...THE
MOISTURE IS NOT EXPECTED TO BE ALL THAT IMPRESSIVE SO THE POP WILL
ONLY BE AROUND 30 PERCENT (BELOW CLIMO). FRIDAY IS FORECAST TO BE
SIMILAR TO THURSDAY IN TERMS OF THE DEEP LAYER MOISTURE PROFILE
AND MEAN NORTHEAST FLOW (1000-700 MB). MOISTURE WILL BE ON THE
INCREASE FRIDAY NIGHT AND SATURDAY AS A TROPICAL WAVE (CURRENTLY
NEAR HISPANIOLA) APPROACHES FROM THE EAST. THE LATEST GLOBAL
GUIDANCE (EXCLUDING THE GEM) DO NOT DEVELOP THIS WAVE...WHICH MEANS
THE ONLY IMPACT TO OUR REGION WOULD BE IN INCREASE IN SCATTERED
SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS AND AN INCREASE IN WINDS AND SEAS.
TEMPERATURES WILL BE HOT...WITH HIGHS IN THE MID TO UPPER 90S
INLAND...AND INDEX VALUES EXCEEDING 100 DEGREES.
