Thursday Midday Weather Update

By: Martha Spencer
By: Martha Spencer

WE JUST HAD SOME MINOR ADJUSTMENTS TO THE POPS THIS MORNING...NO OTHER MAJOR UPDATES. AN EARLY START IN SHOWERS OVER THE COASTAL WATERS AS SEEN ON CURRENT RADAR IMAGERY PROMPTED US TO RAISE POPS OVER THE EASTERN PORTION OF THE COASTAL WATERS. THESE STORMS ARE
ISOLATED TO SCATTERED IN NATURE AND HAVE A LOT OF LIGHTNING. SOME OF THE CELLS HAVE BEEN SEVERE OVER THE PAST FEW HOURS...THE SITUATION WILL CONTINUE TO BE MONITORED THROUGHOUT THE MORNING. THERE IS ALSO NEW CONVECTION FIRING UP ALONG THE COASTLINE. EXPECT THE
COVERAGE TO FILL IN OVER THE LAND LATER TODAY. THE MAIN THREAT WITH TODAYS STORMS WILL BE STRONG WIND AND LIGHTNING. ALSO...THE 12Z TLH SOUNDING INDICATED HIGH CAPE AND GFS MODELED THETA-E INDICATE THE POSSIBILITY OF WET MICROBURSTS THIS AFTERNOON. HEAT INDICES THIS AFTERNOON WILL BE LOWER THAN THEY HAVE BEEN...POSSIBLY REACHING 100 NEAR TALLAHASSEE...BUT SHOULD NOT BE AN ISSUE TODAY.
