Short Term Discussion

THROUGH WEDNESDAY NIGHT...THE SFC RIDGE NOW CENTERED OVER THE CWA WILL MOVE STEADILY EASTWARD DURING THE NEXT FEW DAYS...TO A POSITION A FEW HUNDRED MILES TO THE EAST OF THE CAROLINAS BY WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON. AS THIS RIDGE MOVES EAST OUT AHEAD OF THE NEXT COLD FRONT...WE EXPECT A GRADUAL INCREASE IN WINDS AS THEY VEER AROUND TO THE SOUTHEAST THEN SOUTH TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY. WITH THIS INCREASE IN ONSHORE WINDS AND MOISTURE...HIGH TEMPERATURES WILL LIKELY BE A COUPLE OF DEGREES COOLER EACH DAY. ALSO...AFTER THE DECREASE IN FOG COVERAGE LAST NIGHT...AND ALL OF THE NUMERICAL AND MODEL GUIDANCE TRENDING AWAY FROM ANY SIGNIFICANT FOG ACROSS THE CWA AND COASTAL WATERS...WILL PLAN ON BACKING OFF TO PATCHY FOG (IN THE MVFR RANGE) FOR ABOUT 4 HRS ACROSS THE BOARD. HOWEVER...GIVEN THE EXTREME DIFFICULTIES OF FOG FCSTING IN MUCH OF OUR AREA...WOULD NOT AT ALL BE SURPRISED TO SEE THE USUALLY FAVORABLE FOG LOCATIONS LIKE TLH...PFN...AND VLD DROP BELOW THESE LEVELS FOR A BRIEF TIME LATE TONIGHT.
