Short Term Discussion

THE DEEP LAYERED RIDGE CURRENTLY PRESIDING OVER THE SOUTHEASTERN STATES WILL WEAKEN IN THE SHORT TERM AS A SHORTWAVE MOVES FROM THE SOUTHERN PLAINS INTO THE OHIO VALLEY. THIS SHORTWAVE WILL PUSH A COLD FRONT TOWARDS THE DEEP SOUTH TONIGHT AND SATURDAY. HOWEVER...WITH ALL OF THE ENERGY LIFTING WELL TO THE NORTH...THE FRONT IS LIKELY TO STALL AND DISSIPATE BEFORE ENTERING THE CWA. IN ADDITION...THE SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS ALONG THE FRONT ARE EXPECTED TO DIMINISH TO NOTHING BEFORE REACHING THE NORTHWEST PORTION OF THE FORECAST AREA. THUS...HAVE REMAINED IN LINE WITH THE PREVIOUS FORECAST KEEPING POPS BELOW 15 PERCENT THROUGH THE SHORT TERM. AVERAGE TEMPS WILL REMAIN NEAR NORMAL FOR THE NEXT FEW DAYS WITH HIGHS IN THE LOWER TO MID 80S AND LOWS IN THE 50S. MAY SEE SOME PATCHY FOG TONIGHT. HOWEVER...WITH THE UPPER RIDGE BREAKING DOWN...NOT EXPECTING THE WIDESPREAD DENSE FOG OF THIS MORNING. RISK OF DENSE FOG WILL INCREASE FOR SUNDAY MORNING AS THE UPPER RIDGE BEGINS TO BUILD BACK IN.
