DURING THE NEXT 24 HRS...A STRONG SHORTWAVE WILL MOVE INLAND ACROSS PAC COAST TONIGHT TO RACE EWD TO ACROSS ROCKIES WITH ASSOCD IMPULSE TO DIG ACROSS THE SOUTHERN GREAT BASIN TOWARD THE SOUTHERN ROCKIES. DOWNSTREAM SHORT WAVE TROUGH WILL TRANSLATE AROUND BASE OF TROUGH IN SRN PLAINS THIS EVE AND ACCELERATE NEWD OVER THE MS VALLEY OVERNIGHT INTO EARLY THURSDAY GRADUALLY TAKING ON A MORE NEGATIVE-TILT BY THE TIME IT REACHES SRN APPALACHIANS LATER IN DAY. IT THEN BEGINS TO FILL THURSDAY EVENING AS IT APPROACHES THE MID-ATLANTIC COAST. ASSOCD STRONG CLOSED LOW MOVES ACROSS LOWER MS/TN VALLEYS DURING THE DAY ON THURS BEFORE ABSORBED INTO LARGER SCALE TROF AND BECOMING SHEARED BY EVE ACROSS NE STATES. AHEAD OF THIS FEATURE...UPPER FLOW WILL CONTINUE TO BACK TOWARD THE WEST AND SOUTHWEST... LEADING TO INCREASING MID TO UPPER MOISTURE...CLOUD COVERAGE AND RAIN THROUGH THURSDAY NIGHT OVER OUR LOCAL AREA. IT APPEARS THE UPPER LONG-WAVE TROUGH AXIS WILL NOT SWING EAST UNTIL FRIDAY AFTERNOON...SO CLEARING FRIDAY MORNING MAY BE SLOW. THEN... PLENTY OF DEEP LAYER DRY AIR AND A SUPPRESSED ENVIRONMENT RETURNING FRIDAY NIGHT.
