Short Term Discussion

OVERALL...THE SHORT TERM PERIOD IS STILL DOMINATED BY THE POTENTIAL FOR FREEZING TEMPERATURES...AT LEAST THROUGH SUNDAY MORNING. HIGH PRESSURE WILL MOVE EASTWARD ACROSS THE OHIO VALLEY AND INTO THE MID ATLANTIC BY SUNDAY MORNING. THE PRESSURE GRADIENT IS EXPECTED TO BE QUITE LIGHT THE NEXT COUPLE OF NIGHTS...SO GOOD RADIATIONAL COOLING IS EXPECTED. THE ONLY POTENTIAL PROBLEM WOULD BE THE INFLUENCE OF ANY CIRRUS MOVING IN FROM THE WEST. AT THIS TIME...MODELS ARE ALL SHOWING THAT ANY MID AND UPPER LEVEL MOISTURE WILL BE DIRECTED MORE TOWARD THE CENTRAL AND SOUTHERN FLORIDA PENINSULA. BY SUNDAY AFTERNOON...WITH THE NEXT STORM SYSTEM APPROACHING...THE POTENTIAL FOR INCREASING CLOUDS WILL BEGIN TO LIMIT THE CONCERN FOR FREEZING TEMPERATURES. HOWEVER...IT DOES APPEAR THAT THE COLDEST LOCATIONS OF THE FLORIDA BIG BEND HAVE AN OUTSIDE SHOT AT TEMPERATURES DROPPING INTO THE 33 TO 36 DEGREE RANGE. WILL CONTINUE MENTION OF FROST IN THE FORECAST FOR THE NEXT THREE NIGHTS...BUT ANY COVERAGE OF FROST WILL BECOME MORE PATCHY BY SUNDAY NIGHT.
