20Z WATER VAPOR AND H4 RUC ANALYSIS SHOWING A HIGHLY AMPLIFIED UPPER LEVEL PATTERN ACROSS NORTH AMERICA. BROAD LONGWAVE TROUGHING IS IN CONTROL OF MUCH OF THE INTER-MOUNTAIN WEST...FOLLOWED FURTHER DOWNSTREAM BY LONGWAVE TROUGHING EXTENDING FROM THE MS VALLEY TO THE EASTERN SEABOARD. A STRONG SHORTWAVE EMBEDDED WITHIN THE MAIN TROUGH IS CURRENTLY EJECTING EASTWARD ALONG THE GULF COAST...WITH THE TROUGH AXIS ABOUT TO OVERSPREAD OUR WESTERN ZONES. WIDE SWATH OF SYNOPTIC LIFT AHEAD OF THIS TROUGH HAS OVERSPREAD THE REGION AND IS SUPPORTING AN AREA OF WIDESPREAD LIGHT RAIN/SHOWERS. THE BACK END OF THIS PRECIP IS NOW ENTERING OUR FAR WESTERN ZONES ALONG THE TROUGH AXIS. AT THE SURFACE...GRADIENT IS RESULTING IN A WIDESPREAD NW FLOW. A RATHER CHILLY AND RAW AFTERNOON UNDERWAY FOR MUCH OF THE AREA. ONLY EXCEPTION IS DOWN ACROSS THE SOUTHEAST BIG BEND (STILL AHEAD OF THE SHOWERS) WHERE TEMPS HAVE BEEN ABLE TO CLIMB INTO THE UPPER 50S. FOR THE REST OF THE REGION...THE LIGHT PRECIP IS RESULTING IN A WET-BULB EFFECT THOUGH THE UNSATURATED BOUNDARY LAYER WITH MUCH COOLER TEMPS. EVEN THOSE LOCATION THAT HAD REACHED THE LOWER 50S AROUND MIDDAY HAVE FALLEN BACK INTO THE MIDDLE 40S. RAINFALL WILL NOT AMOUNT TO MUCH WITH ONLY A FEW HUNDREDTHS TO PERHAPS A TENTH OF AN INCH AT MOST OF ACCUMULATION.
