THE FRIGID OPENING WEEKS OF THE YEAR WERE BUT A DISTANT MEMORY TODAY AS TEMPS SOARED INTO THE MID TO UPPER 70S UNDER WALL-TO-WALL SUNSHINE ACROSS THE FL BIG BEND...WITH LOWER 70S ACROSS OUR GA AND FL PANHANDLE ZONES AND UPPER 60S IN SE AL. APALACHICOLA REACHED 76 DEGREES WHICH TIED THE DAILY RECORD SET WAY BACK IN 1937. THE AREA REMAINS PARKED UNDER A LARGE UPPER LEVEL RIDGE THAT EXTENDS FROM THE GULF OF MEXICO NWD INTO ONTARIO CANADA. SURFACE HIGH PRESSURE IS CENTERED OVER JAMES BAY IN CANADA AND IS RIDGING SWD INTO DIXIE. THE COLD FRONT THAT SWEPT THROUGH THE AREA LAST NIGHT IS NOW DRAPED ACROSS CENTRAL FL. SATELLITE IMAGERY INDICATES SOME LOW STRATUS OVER CENTRAL GA AND THIS IS EDGING SWD. AGREE WITH THE PREVIOUS FORECASTER THAT THESE CLOUDS WILL CONTINUE TO PROGRESS ACROSS THE FORECAST AREA FROM NE TO SW OVERNIGHT WITH A LOW STRATUS DECK ACROSS MOST OF THE AREA BY DAWN. WE UPPED THE CLOUDS IN THE SKY GRIDS TO MATCH THIS THINKING. TEMPS ARE IN LINE WITH THE FORECAST. IT WILL BE QUITE A BIT COOLER BY MORNING THAN IT WAS THIS MORNING WITH MOST INLAND AREAS REACHING THE LOWER TO MID 40S. THE FORECAST LOOKS IN PRETTY GOOD SHAPE THIS EVENING.
