Frosty Florida sees more freezing temperatures

MIAMI (AP) - Record low temperatures continue raking across
Florida, breaking record lows set more than 80 years ago.

The National Weather Service said overnight temperatures at the
Miami airport Monday dipped to 36 degrees, beating the previous low
of 37 set in 1927.

Though cold weather systems sometimes pass through, it's rare
for them to linger so long. The average temperature this time of
year in South Florida is 68 degrees, with normal lows around 60.

A hard freeze warning for central Florida remained in effect
until Monday morning. The Tampa Bay area hasn't seen temperatures higher than 60 degrees since Jan. 1. Temperatures there hovered in the low-30s on Monday, and have been running 10 to 30 degrees below normal.

No relief from the frosty forecast was expected until Tuesday
night.
