A Chicago woman is counting her blessings after a daring rescue on Lake Michigan.
Nicole Nitsche was cross country skiing Friday night along the lake.
Her Golden Retriever, Louie, darted off.
He had slid right into the water because of the ice.
When Nitsche went to the water's edge, her other dog Kaylin slipped in, and so did she.
Nitsche thanked the fire department, paramedics and police who rescued her.
"I just want to say thanks a lot that they did a great job and this ended up really well, but um, it could have been otherwise if they hadn't gotten there in time,” says Nitsche.
Louie had been in the water for about 45 minutes.
After warm iv's, he's doing just fine.
