Life-Threatening Cold Thursday

By: Accuweather
By: Accuweather

The combination of bitterly cold air and gusty winds across the northern Plains and Upper Midwest on Thursday will create a dangerous situation for those who venture outside without proper attire. RealFeel temperatures will be 30 below zero or colder during the day Thursday from the eastern Dakotas to western Minnesota!

Actual temperatures will remain below zero Thursday night and Friday from the Dakotas to Wisconsin and southward across Iowa and Missouri. The air is so cold that frostbite can occur on exposed skin in just a matter of minutes, and prolonged exposure to such temperatures will result in hypothermia or even death.

If you have to be outside, a hat, gloves and deeply layered clothing is a necessity.
