COLD TEMPERATURES CONTINUE WITH ANOTHER ARCTIC BLAST ON THE WAY... .DISCUSSION...00 UTC SURFACE ANALYSIS SHOWS A 1025 MB HIGH CENTERED JUST NORTHWEST OF BIRMINGHAM WITH A NORTH SOUTH RIDGE AXIS FROM THE TENNESSEE RIVER VALLEY TO THE CENTRAL GULF COAST. TEMPERATURES HAVE ALREADY DROPPED TO OR BELOW THE FREEZING MARK ACROSS MUCH OF THE REGION BY 8 PM ET. THE SYSTEM TO AFFECT THE REGION THURSDAY NIGHT IS ALREADY TAKING SHAPE ACROSS THE RED RIVER VALLEY WITH THE LARGE HIGH PRESSURE RIDGE (1049 MB) LOCATED OVER CENTRAL SASKATCHEWAN. IT`S BEEN QUITE A WHILE SINCE I`VE ANALYZED SURFACE PRESSURES THAT HIGH ON THE EASTERN CONUS CHART...THUS AS THE MODELS ARE ADVERTISING...I EXPECT THIS WEEKEND TO BE QUITE CHILLY ACROSS THE REGION AS THE AIRMASS ASSOCIATED WITH THIS RIDGE DROPS TOWARD THE GULF COAST. UPPER AIR DATA AT 00 UTC SHOWS THE NEXT UPPER LOW LOCATED ACROSS THE NORTHERN PLAINS WITH NORTHWESTERLY FLOW ACROSS THE ENTIRE EASTERN CONUS. A WEAK IMPULSE IS PASSING THROUGH THE SOUTHEAST THIS EVENING BRINGING A FEW SCATTERED MID LEVEL CLOUDS. THE EVENING 00 UTC KTAE SOUNDING CONTINUES TO SHOW A VERY DRY ATMOSPHERE WITH A 0.15 PRECIPITABLE WATER.
