Mild weather will continue for one more day across the Northeast before another blast of arctic air settles in on Wednesday. Along with the colder temperatures, residents and travelers will have to deal with gusty winds that will make it feel even colder.
The worst of the cold will be in northern New England and upstate New York on Wednesday, as the combination of wind and low temperatures will make it feel more like zero to 10 below during the afternoon.
Lake-effect snow will again impact travel for areas downwind of lakes Erie and Ontario with up to 6 inches in some locations by the end of the day on Wednesday. Gusty winds will blow any snow around reducing visibilities to below 1/2 mile at times.
