Little rain chance over the next 7 days (Sep 08)...

River Notes---
09/01 - For now, no updates on Monday or Tuesday
Other remarks:
River forecasts are usually good but can be short of the mark with heavy rain events...
The short term fluctuations along the Chattahoochee River at George, Columbia, and Woodruff dams reflect water flow regulation as well as to control river levels on locations downstream, including Blountstown and other locations on the Apalachicola River...

When Floodwaters are occurring -
Important Flood and Health Considerations-----
Areas on the same river away from the aforementioned locations may see significant differences in Flood Stage.
Streams may cause significant lowland (floodplain) flooding and pose serious risks to cattle and other livestock as well as nearby dwellings.
Locations near and downstream of dams may see significant level changes (up or down) within a short period of time.
A sudden obstruction by a large object or group of objects may cause a quick and significant rise in river level just upstream of the blockage.
>>>>>
A Cautionary Note-----
Floodwaters are not your typically dirty water..In fact they probably contain many - if not all - of the following ingredients:
Sewage, dead animals or parts, decomposing vegetative matter, large and sharp pieces of trees and construction materials, industrial chemicals, viruses, bacteria, and live fire ants, snakes, alligators.
Anyone in contact with floodwater should consult qualified medical personnel about the need for a tetanus shot.
Be careful about working in closed areas around abundant mold and mildew.
>>>>>
Check with your county EMA or with the National Weather Service in Tallahassee (or Mobile for Okaloosa, Covington & Crenshaw counties) if you have questions.

I just love the way river flooding has turned into Country Crossing. Just goes to show how childish some people can be when they can not stay on one subject at a time and think that by throwing in "Country Crossing" into every single topic will make it just open right back up. Come on folks, act your age and start worring about other more important things in our city.

Hard to understand how Lake Eufaula levels are at their lowest point in 2 years for this time of year with all the rain we've had, but downstream is at flood stage. Just go to http://www.lakeeufaula.info/Level.asp and you can see the depth charts for the past few years. Would be a good story for WTVY to investigate with the Corps of Engineers.

All of the rivers overflowing the banks are the result of Christians and Bob Riley closing Country Crossings! (With Sarcasm!)

This other comment has nothing to do with the article. Country Crossings is illegal so deal with it. It is also nonbiblical.

I believe that according to the constitution we the people have the right to choose what we want to do,if i have some extra money i would like to be able to stay in the state that I live in and be able to have fun and keep it around my county. If this state is so broke then why not keep something here that we can profit from.I feel that all the money that has been spent trying to shut down Country Crossing could have been spent on the school systems around this area,so our children can profit from a better education. There are also roads,in places like Geneva County, that are in bad need of fixing. So therefore,i think we should keep Country Crossing open so the people in the wiregrass area can profit from what it will bring. What happen to our right of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happeniness. what are our armed forces fighting and dying for if not the ability for freedom of choice. Is this not what our fore fathers came to this country for. We should be allowed the right to choose!!!!!!!
