Short Term Discussion

THE REMNANT LOW FROM IDA HAS CONTINUED TO MOVE EAST NORTHEAST TODAY AND WAS CENTERED JUST NORTH OF JACKSONVILLE. THIS IS VERY CLOSE TO THE GFS 18Z FORECAST POSITION. THE GFS TRACKS THE LOW TO THE NORTHEAST PARALLELING THE SOUTHEAST U.S. COASTLINE THROUGH THE FORECAST PERIOD. MEANWHILE...AN UPPER LOW CLOSES OFF OVER THE CAROLINAS THURSDAY WITH THE SYSTEM BECOMING STACKED OFF THE OUTER BANKS OF NORTH CAROLINA FRIDAY. AS THE SURFACE LOW DEPARTS...DRIER AIR WILL CONTINUE TO FILTER INTO THE LOCAL REGION IN ITS WAKE ALONG WITH THE PRESSURE GRADIENT GRADUALLY RELAXING. THE BACK EDGE OF THE STRATUS BLANKETING OUR REGION HAS NOT MADE MUCH EASTWARD PROGRESS TODAY SO WE MAY BE SLOWER TO CLEAR OUT THAN WHAT THE MODELS ARE INDICATING. WILL SHOW THE WESTERN ZONES SCATTERING OUT OVERNIGHT BUT KEEP MOSTLY CLOUDY TO CLOUDY FOR THE EASTERN ZONES. MAY ALSO SEE PATCHES OF DRIZZLE OR VERY LIGHT RAIN THIS EVENING WITH ONLY TRACE AMOUNTS EXPECTED. SKIES SHOULD SCATTER OR CLEAR ALL AREAS ON THURSDAY ALONG WITH WARMER TEMPERATURES WITH THE INCREASED INSOLATION. TEMPS WILL BE AT OR JUST BELOW SEASONAL LEVELS THE NEXT FEW NIGHTS AND FRIDAYS AFTERNOON TEMPS WILL BE PUSHING INTO THE UPPER 70S.
