THE LARGE SCALE PATTERN REMAINS HIGHLY AMPLIFIED HIGHLIGHTED BY SHORT WAVE AND TROUGH COMING ASHORE IN THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST.... RIDGE OVER WRN CONUS WITH AXIS DOWN SPINE OF ROCKIES...AND A LONGWAVE TROUGH EXTENDING FROM THE GREAT LAKES DOWN ALMOST INTO NE GULF. AN UPPER ANTICYCLONE IS SITUATED IN THE WESTERN GULF OF MEXICO WITH RIDGING EXTENDING TO THE NORTHEAST ACROSS CENTRAL FLORIDA ON INTO THE WESTERN ATLANTIC. UPPER TROUGH WILL AMPLIFY OVER THE EAST COAST TUE-WED WITH NW FLOW ALOFT ADVECTING COLDER AIR INTO THE AREA. AT LOWER LEVELS... DURING MON EVE...SURFACE LOW IN THE UPPER GREAT LAKES WITH A COLD FRONT EXTENDING SSW ACROSS S/CNTRL VA...W/CNTRL NORTH CAROLINA... CNTRL GA...SE ALA...ON INTO TEXAS. ISOLATED CONVECTION WAS NOTED ALONG AND JUST AHEAD OF BOUNDARY. BUT...ASIDE FROM LOW-LEVEL MOISTURE AND FORCING NOT MUCH AVAILABLE TO SUSTAIN CONVECTION. SOUTH OF FRONT...WEAK HIGH PRESSURE IS LOCATED IN NORTHERN GULF OF MEXICO. DURING THE NEXT 12-18 HRS LOW LIFTS IN QUEBEC WHILE HIGHLY AMPLIFIED TROUGH WILL SEND ASSOCD FRONT SEWD INTO THE COASTAL WATERS. IN ITS WAKE...COLD HIGH PRESSURE RIDGING DOWN FROM CANADA INTO HIGH ACROSS SRN PLAINS/MID SOUTH. WATER VAPOR IMAGERY INDICATES SUBSTANTIAL DRY AIR AND SUBSIDENCE IS OVERSPREADING THE REGION. THIS REFLECTED IN REGIONAL DEW POINT GRADIENT IN THE LOW 70S ALONG THE FRONT DOWN TO MID 40S E/CNTRL MISS AND IN 24 HR TEMP/DEW POINT GRADIENT WITH TEMPS 3 TO 5 DEGREES WARMER AND 4 TO 9 DEGREES WETTER THAN SAME TIME YESTERDAY ALONG AND JUST AHEAD OF FRONT. CONVERSELY IN E/CNTRL MISS TEMPS 5-8 DEGREES COOLER AND DEW POINTS 15 TO 20 DEGREES LOWER THAN SAME TIME YESTERDAY. AS SRN PLAINS HIGH BUILDS RAPIDLY EWD...THIS COLD AND DRY AIR MASS TO MOVE RAPIDLY SEWD AND ACROSS LOCAL REGION INTO MID WEEK. EXPECT TEMPS 8-12 DEGREES BELOW CLIMO (CLIMO AROUND 60) TUES AND WED NIGHTS.
