As of Friday afternoon, here are the minor changes...The Apalachicola River at Blountstown will be slightly above flood stage well into next week, but flooding in that area should be minor. otherwise, the information below remains in effect.
The Apalachicola River near Blountstown, Florida will be above flood stage at least until the middle of next week. The flooding should be minor and restricted to near the river itself in the floodplain as well as low lying land adjacent to the river. Florida counties affected are Calhoun, Liberty, Gulf and Franklin. Affected landowners should take needed precautions and move livestock as needed.
Flood stage at Blountstown is 15 feet, and the Apalachicola River is expected to rise to at least 18 feet in that area by later Friday night. The river will likely remain around 16 to 19 feet until the floodwaters from north Georgia mov through the area later next week. River forecasts are subject to revisions, so be alert in case changes are required to the river level.
In addition, expect elevated levels for the Flint River around Bainbridge, GA. For now it appears the Flint River will remain below flood stage (25 feet at Bainbridge), but river level revisions may be required over the next several days.
Also, the Chattahoochee River will rise over the next several days, but flooding is not expected as of now, but stay alert to possible changes
in river levels.
