BOSTON (AP) - The 218-year-old "Old Farmer's Almanac" has released its latest edition.
It predicts colder weather this winter across much of the U.S. and a major hurricane next September in Florida. The almanac was
released this week.
Judson Hale, the semiretired chairman and long-time pitchman for the "Old Farmer's Almanac," said the almanac develops its
prediction using sunspots, planetary positions and meteorology
Doris Smith Mills, of Westport, Mass., said despite the 24-hour Weather Channel and various weather Web sites, she still reads the "Old Farmer's Almanac." That's because her family has been
reading the almanac for generations and it's been reliable for her
in predicting upcoming weather.
