CABO SAN LUCAS, Mexico (AP) - Hurricane Jimena (hee-MAY'-nuh) remains a dangerous Category 4 storm with top sustained winds of 145 mph as it comes close enough to Baja California to rattle
nerves.
At last report, Jimena was centered about 395 miles
south-southeast of Cabo San Lucas and was moving northwest near 8
mph.
Mexico issued a hurricane watch for the southern portion of Baja, meaning hurricane conditions are possible within 36 hours.
Residents on the Baja peninsula have been stocking up on food and authorities are setting up shelters.
The U.S. hurricane center issued a public advisory for residents in western Mexico and the southern part of the Baja peninsula to keep tabs on Jimena.

(Oscar note: Jimena will reach Baja California mid week as a much weaker storm but will move north with flooding rains, possibly even for parts of the U.S. Southwest.)
