Wednesday Night through Monday

(WEDNESDAY NIGHT THROUGH NEXT MONDAY)...THOUGH SOME DIFFERENCES EXIST BETWEEN THE GFS AND EURO ON THE AMPLITUDE AND TIMING OF SHORT WAVE ENERGY DROPPING INTO THE SOUTHEAST THE END OF THIS WEEK...THERE IS GENERAL AGREEMENT THAT A STRONG UPPER LOW APPROACHING THE WEST COAST ON THURSDAY WILL BUILD A RIDGE ACROSS THE ROCKIES...WHICH WILL ALLOW SHORT WAVE ENERGY TO AMPLIFY SOUTHWARD DOWNSTREAM ACROSS THE SOUTHEAST THURSDAY INTO FRIDAY...SLOWLY PUSHING A SURFACE COLD FRONT INTO THE SOUTHEAST. THIS WILL PRODUCE A RELATIVELY WET PATTERN ACROSS THE TRI-STATE AREA...WITH RESULTING CLOUDS AND SHOWERS KEEPING DAYTIME TEMPERATURES BELOW NORMAL. AS THE UPPER LOW IS KICKED NORTHEAST ACROSS THE INTERMOUNTAIN WEST...THE DOWNSTREAM RIDGE WILL BEGIN TO BUILD EASTWARD ACROSS THE GULF OF MEXICO INTO THE SOUTHEAST BY THE END OF THE WEEKEND. THE GFS IS MORE AGGRESSIVE WITH THE AMPLIFICATION OF THE PATTERN AND THUS SLOWER TO PROGRESS IT EASTWARD...AND RECENT TRENDS HAVE BEEN A BIT SLOWER WITH THE EASTWARD PROGRESSION. HOWEVER...THE FORECAST OF A DRYING AND WARMING TREND BY NEXT WEEKEND LOOKS TO BE ON TRACK...AS THE UPPER LEVEL RIDGE BUILDS EASTWARD.
