Did you know you can do a little storm predicting yourself? Some people are even putting money on it.
University of Miami researchers have created the "hurricane futures market" to allow meteorology researchers and students to invest real money in their predictions.
The payoff, of course, depends on who gets the closest to determining the first landfall of the storm.
It's not a game, though, the information gathered from the project helps storm-casters tune computer models to better predict landfalls and learn what information people want and need from both the weather service and the media.
