Southern stormy weather could hang on today

ATLANTA (AP) - Stormy weather that killed one person, knocked out power to thousands and caused property damage in at least three states may not be over yet.

Forecasters say it could linger into today.

A coroner says a 46-year-old Laurel, Miss., woman was killed when a tree fell on her while she was standing outside her home Sunday. Louisiana, Alabama and Mississippi report some property damage.

Emergency officials say a tornado touched down near Crossville, Tenn., about 60 miles west of Knoxville, but caused no injuries.

The Knoxville News Sentinel reports that numerous trees were toppled in the area and some homes were damaged by the winds.

Authorities in Alabama and Georgia say several funnel clouds were spotted there.

The storms also knocked out power to about 10,000 customers around the Atlanta-metro area.
