THE AXIS OF THE 500 MB RIDGE CURRENTLY EXTENDING FROM THE GREAT LAKES SOUTH TO THE EASTERN GULF WILL SLIDE EAST OFF THE U.S. EAST COAST BY THURSDAY. AS A RESULT...THE UPPER FLOW WILL BACK TO THE WEST SOUTHWEST AND THE AFOREMENTIONED COLD FRONT WILL PUSH EASTWARD BRINGING INCREASING CHANCES FOR SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS TO THE REGION. WITH THE WEAK RIDGING IN PLACE THE FRONT IS NOT FORECAST TO PUSH THROUGH THE CWA IN THE SHORT TERM. THIS WILL COME LATER WHEN ANOTHER SHORT WAVE DIGS THROUGH THE SOUTHERN PLAINS AND LIFTS TO NEW ENGLAND OVER THE WEEKEND KICKING THE COLD FRONT WELL TO OUR EAST. SPC CONTINUES TO SHOW OUR EXTREME WESTERN ZONES HIGHLIGHTED FOR A SLIGHT RISK OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS LATE THURSDAY AFTERNOON OR THURSDAY NIGHT
