ND college cancels classes, helps with sandbagging
FARGO, N.D. (AP) - Officials in Fargo, N.D. say they hope to fill nearly 2 million sandbags by the end of the week to hold off
the threat of flooding from the Red River.
It's hoped the dike that protects Fargo can be raised to 42
feet. The Red River's flood stage is 18 feet. The National Weather
Service says the rising river has reached more than 25 feet and

The sandbagging effort is being assisted by high school and college students. North Dakota State University canceled classes
today and Fargo high schools also excused students to help. Similar
efforts are under way across the river in Minnesota near Moorhead.
Minnesota and North Dakota are sending National Guard troops to help.
