Coast Guard Aids Burning Ship

HALIFAX, Nova Scotia (AP) - A dramatic rescue Sunday in the
North Atlantic.
A Canadian Coast Guard ship saved all 22 people from a Spanish
trawler after the fishing vessel caught fire. It happened some 250
miles southeast of Newfoundland.
A Coast Guard captain says they arrived on the scene as some
fishermen were jumping into the water without life jackets, while
others were sliding into life rafts.
One crewman from the trawler had hypothermia and another was
treated after inhaling smoke.
The Coast Guard was considering boarding the trawler for an
inspection and its ship was just a few minutes away when the
distress call came. The Coast Guard captain says that was lucky and
"all the cards were in line."
