MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - An apparent tornado uprooted trees in Geneva Wednesday evening as fierce overnight storms dumped heavy rains and hail across Alabama over a wide area.

No injuries were reported, but preliminary storm reports from the National Weather Service said the damage ranged from downed power lines to minor flooding in dozens of counties from west to north central Alabama.

Meteorologists say the severe weather has moved out of the state.

Thursday's forecast calls for cooler, sunny conditions. Highs will range in the mid 40s in northern counties to the 60s in the south.
