OXNARD, Calif. (AP) - A winter storm that is shaping up to be
the largest of the season is arriving in Southern California.
The National Weather Service says the region will be hit with heavy rains and fierce winds starting early Monday morning and
lasting well into the afternoon.
Meteorologist David Gomberg says the storm is heading south from the Central Coast into Southern California, and the winds could bring water spouts or even small tornadoes.
Gomberg says it is the "most significant storm so far this
season."
The rains bring renewed fears of mudslides in areas ravaged by wildfires last year, including Orange County and northern Los Angeles County. The city of Sierra Madre has warned residents they may need to leave their homes.
