TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - The snowplows are out in Arizona.
Crews in the desert state are struggling to dig highways out of a wintry blast that has covered roads in a layer of snow.
The Arizona Department of Public Safety is calling it the worst snowstorm it has ever had to deal with in the northern part of the
state.
Drivers are being urged to stay off some roads because of whiteouts and slippery conditions. The storm has caused hundreds of accidents, shut down stretches of highways and stranded drivers.
Four snowplows are working to clear Interstate 17 near Flagstaff.
The state Department of Public safety says while it's working to quickly respond to accidents, the growing number of them is
straining its resources.
