SHORT TERM (TONIGHT THROUGH FRIDAY NIGHT)...CLOSED UPPER LOW AND ASSOCIATED TROUGH OVER THE MID-ATLANTIC STATES IS FORECAST TO MOVE SLOWLY EWD INTO THE ATLANTIC DURING THE NEXT 24 TO 48 HRS. THE SURFACE LOW CURRENTLY EAST OF THE NORTH CAROLINA COAST WILL GRADUALLY WEAKEN AS IT DRIFTS NEWD TOWARD THE SRN NEW ENGLAND COAST THURSDAY AND THURSDAY NIGHT, THEN EXIT THE COAST INTO THE ATLANTIC ON FRIDAY. AS THIS SYSTEM EXITS, IT WILL TAKE THE PERSISTENT LOW LEVEL CLOUDINESS ALONG WITH IT AND DEEP LAYER RIDGING ALONG WITH A DRIER AIR MASS WILL BUILD INTO TONIGHT THROUGH THURSDAY NIGHT. THE DEEP RIDGE WILL SLIDE EWD ON FRIDAY AS A RATHER VIGOROUS PLAINS UPPER LOW AND SURFACE COLD FRONT ADVANCE INTO THE ERN CONUS. BY FRIDAY EVENING, THE COLD FRONT ALONG WITH SCT SHWRS/ISOLD TSTMS WILL BE APPROACHING OUR WRN ZONES. INTRODUCED SLIGHT CHANCE POPS FOR THESE AREAS FRIDAY AFTN, WITH CHANCE POPS AREAWIDE FRIDAY NIGHT. TEMPS THE NEXT FEW DAYS WILL BE ABOVE SEASONAL NORMALS, WITH HIGHS AROUND 80 AND LOWS IN THE UPPER 40S TO MID 50S.
