Geneva County Joint Network of Weather Station

The Geneva County Extension Service recently became part of a growing network of weather observation sites. The University Of South Alabama is spearheading the push.

A motorist along Highway 52 east of Geneva may notice a wide array of aluminum poles sticking out of an open field. This is part of a weather research gathering point. Temperatures, humidity, wind speeds, and other important data are collected and transmitted electronically to the university's main campus outside of mobile.

Geneva County Extension Agent, Mary Baltikauski, volunteered to go get the station located here. The data from the site is retrieved by the national weather service to help them better make their daily forecasts.
